CASTING

Struts & Frets Theatre Co. is committed to equal representation in casting. We believe theatre belongs to all and strive to embody that within our casting, audience, and company.

We seek to cast locally, first and foremost, because we believe wholeheartedly that our community impact is greater if community members are present and representing our work. However, we are always happy to accept submissions from those outside of Oregon, especially in this time of virtual theatre.

We primarily produce work of a classical nature, and we acknowledge that that work is written from a narrow cultural perspective and scope. We believe the core of these plays is our shared humanity and we are determined to produce and adapt them to carve out space for artists and audiences of all histories, backgrounds, and life experiences.

We recognize most characters we encounter are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns. Our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender nonconforming, genderqueer, transgender, and nonbinary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

We will also list a character's race and ethnicity when specific to the character but otherwise are seeking submissions from actors of all racial and ethnic identities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

We encourage actors to submit for any project they are interested in working on.  All projects are open to actors of any race, ethnicity, immigration status, socioeconomic status, size, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and age.

If a project requires the specific casting of a role, that information will be included in the breakdown.
